pi kills animals when he is in the lifeboat. which is a horrible thing for him because he is a vegetarian and feels that he has never killed an animal in his life. he was always taught to take respectful care of all animals, and not cause harm to any creature. also his religions come into play somewhat because in a lot of religions the killing of animals exept for necessity is frowned upon
Pi is forced to do the un thinkable and the un usual for him. Pi is forced to feed on alqae, dead animals, drink ocean water, and spend days and days stranded out in the middle of the ocean. On top of all of that he is stuck with 400 pound tiger in the life boat. Pi on a everyday basis would never eat previously killed animals algae and see things like he did. Dead animals, animals kill other animals, and even himself kill to stay alive.
I agree with taylor that killing animals is not like Pis usual self. But in times like this what is necessary to live it what he is forced to do even though it is very far away from his beliefs and religions.
Pi kills other animals on the baot to eat. This is very out of character for him especially since he is a vegitarian. But I believe his situation called for a bit of out of character-ness.
It acceptable to do whatever you can to survive. Hurt and kill other living creature so he can have food in his stomach. He stays on a boat with a tiger. Since young he has been told of the dangers a tiger has, but he stay with the tiger because is the only way to survive.
Pi has to take the life of animals which goes against his religion and the was he was brought up. i agree with ashley and taylor on that matter. Pi had to face some had decisions, like wether to stay on the boat with a tiger or to jump off, he has to over come lonlyness and find a friend with the animals on the boat.
Pi is forced to do a lot of things that he would not normally do, like any other person would do if they were stuck in a lifeboat. He has to eat animals that he has most normally taking care of back home. Not only does he have to eat the animals he has to eat things from the ocean. He also has to be calm around a huge tiger that is in this lifeboat with him. It is all about survival.
although it says in the question pick something different from the others, im thinkin the same thing as everyone else. Pi was a vegetarian and the son of a zookeeper so for him to be involved with animals in that way and kill and eat other animals it was just against something he would be used to.
it all depends on the circumstances of the situation and what was happening, but anything is acceptable when it comes to your own survival and when i say that i mean anything including eating people. he kills animals when he is on the boat, and that is bad because he doesnt eat meat. he would also never drink any sea water because it is very bad for a person.
Well, Pi stays sane. That is THE most important thing to be when youre stranded in a boat with a 400 pound tiger. Or in any situation where you need to surrvive. If Pi freaked out and say, jumped off the boat away from the tiger, well, he'd be dead. Once he controlled his fears he could surrvive off of plant life and make a relationship with the tiger.
i think that if your in a life threatening situation, you will do anything to survive. that is exactly what happened with pi. he was stuck on a boat with a 400 pound tiger, out in the middle of the ocean with no food for him that he wanted since he was a vegetarian. eating meat was something that he deffinately did not want to do, neither was killing the animal that he was going to eat.
He goes aginst his religeon and morals and eats the other animals on the boat. This is deffintily something he would not do.
i agree with almost everyone in the fact people will do about anything to survive.
