Interview with Yann Martel

Watch the YouTube interview with Yann Martel. Is he like you imagined he would be? What about the interview reminded you of something in the book? Give a specific example.

i dont really get what your asking... i cant really answer this question with this particular interview because he is only talking about the book so of course everything reminded me of the book?

I think Yann Martel is how i imagined him to be he was whitty, interesting, and imaginative. I agree with him and the people in the book when they decided they liked Pi's original story of what really happend out on the ocean. Religion made the better and more vivid story. Yann Martels personality was shown through this book.

Martel seems pertty much as i imagined him. A smart individual who thinks out side of the box. Like Taylor said the whole interview is about the book so I was reminded of the novel throughout the whole thing.

I guess he is what I imagine him to be. They don’t talk much about him instead they talk more about the books and how they came up with the two different stories. The part that made me think about the book was the part of the book where to make him believe he story he had to make one that was more probable but at the same time less believable.

I really REALLY agree with Taylor. There is no way to tell if you imagine the author, since it doesn’t talk about the author. But maybe you’re talking about the pictures to tell you the truth I imagine the guy to look like a wise old man.

I imagined Yann Martel exactly the way hes is in the interview. the way he writes in the storry shows his personality. i agree with ashley on how religion made the book better.

Yann Martel is pretty similar to how I imagined him to be. He was very creative and always brought up the ideas that changing the characters of the story can change your idea of the story itself. Ofcourse this is referring the interview in the book when Pi changes the animals to humans and tells the exact story again. Martell seemed a little more religious and philosophical than i thought though. I didnt really put one and one together bringing religion constantly up in the story until i watched that interview.

i agree with fabi's comment, When you change the story to make it more believable, people will go with the one less likely to be real to protect themselves from the truth of the two stories.

As I read this book Yann Martel is exactly how I had imagined him. He loved an adventure and he was a smart thinker. It is an amazing story about what really happened out there on the ocean. This was really shown through out the whole book.

Yann Martel is pretty much exactly like i imagined he would be in the way that he was smart and very clever in the things he said to the interviewer. i thought that he might of been a little more fun though in the ways he talked. everything about the interview remined me about the book becasue the whole interview was asking him about his book anyway.

I argee with pretty much evryone on the page because the interview remined me of the book because is was all about the book anyway.

i'm going to be origional and say that Yann Martel is how i imagined him. oh wait...
But yeah Yann Martel seems to be a smart and clever guy and this is shown also in his book. He does seem more religous than thought as daniel said. Still, it aided him in writing a good book.

martel is how i imagined, a very smart guy who is very creative and good at writing stories. i wasnt really able to learn much of him from the interview though, because 99% of the interview is just about the book, not him.

i agree with taylor M., there really isnt much about martel in the interview. its too hard to base any conclusion of him off of this interview because there simply isnt enough about him there. i also agree with ashley, in that religion did play a big role in his writing of this book.

he is what i thought he would be he is imaginative which you would have to be to right this book and i think i could see the book on him like it lives in his head all the time.

i have to agree with taylor and taylor that it is about the book
